All About Violet Sunset Swim School
Our Mission
At Violet Sunset Swim School (VSSS), we are committed to equipping both children and adults with essential swimming skills. We recognize the life-saving importance of water safety in our community.
We are especially attuned to the needs of families with children on the autism spectrum. Firsthand experience has shown us the heightened risk of drowning in this population, and we are devoted to reducing those risks. Every child deserves the opportunity to feel confident, safe, and empowered in and around water.
What Makes Us Different
At VSSS, we take a unique approach to swim instruction by blending Therapeutic Recreation principles with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques. Our lessons are not only effective—they’re also enjoyable, helping swimmers feel safe, supported, and engaged.
We provide a nurturing, inclusive environment where students of all backgrounds and abilities can thrive. To support today’s families, we offer affordable lessons and flexible scheduling to meet your needs.
Inclusivity at Our Core
We believe swimming should empower everyone. Inclusivity is more than a value—it’s our foundation. To break down barriers, we proudly offer instruction in both English and Spanish, ensuring that language never limits access to our programs. At VSSS, you’re more than just a client—you become a cherished member of our swim family.

A Family Matter
As a mother to her three-year-old daughter, Violet, who is on the autism spectrum, Gillian understands the significance of creating a safe and nurturing environment for all children. She has even gone as far as to establish a fun little kids’ zone at her school. This initiative aims to help parents avoid their children having tantrums while waiting for their siblings to complete their lessons, while the other children safely engage in art activities behind the safety of the pool fence.
Violet’s strength and unique perspective serve as an inspiration to our mission every single day. Violet Sunset Swim School is named in her honor, reflecting the beauty and individuality of children on the spectrum, referred to as “Remarkably Sparkly.”
The Meaning Behind “Violet”
The color violet holds deep significance. It is associated with the Crown Chakra, representing spirituality, connection, tranquility, and harmony.
